WOW GUYS!! Spectators were presented with some awesome riding which made for a very enjoyable days entertainment...
It was actually a pleasure to be part of Eastlands/Sportscity on Saturday afternoon as all riders were fiercely competitive with some cracking races. You ALL did yourselves and the club proud with some top performances. As with all omnium events the crucial timetrial determined the kieran heats, which was found to have a bearing on final placings. But not making the top kieran heats didn't deter riders from putting in their best and fighting all the way to the end. U12s were represented by Joel Partington, Matt Walls and Tom Rotherham, with Joel taking 1st place. Matt and Tom never gave up riding until their 'eyes popped out of their sockets!' U14 girls featured India Penrice, who was not long out of her sick bed, and Clare Gore, both riding well but the Halesowen and Newport girls were just a little too strong on the day. Jake Ragan, Chris Lawless and Alex Taylor were riding in the U14 event, with Jake, dominant in all 4 events, taking top spot and Chris earning a very creditable 5th, clawing his way back in the points race. Alex never gave up and did himself proud in his first national final. U16 girls had Jess Crampton, Jess Anderson, Melissa Bury and Lisa Daly providing the ever present pink train. Racing was fast and very skilful with all 4 showing their talents on the track. Jess Crampton finished 4th and Melissa 5th. U16 boys again had a good showing with James Berryman, Jack Penrice, Luke Boulton and Matt Rotherham. Some very hotly contested racing saw Matt take 1st place, with all 4 showing what a formidable force they will be in the upcoming UK school games. WELL DONE to you all, you provided a very entertaining days racing.
