Tinas Alternative View Of The Nocturne

Look out  - Ians getting some some secret training in!!!

We arrived later in the day at Salford Nocturn, just in time to see Matt and Mel do well on the rollers!  Watching on the big screen was comical as it looked like a film on fast play!!  Well done Matt and Mel!

The club was well represented, a real gathering.  The best time was had with a rather sporting competition between various club members on the 'Watt bike'.  The youth riders, Jess A and Jess C, Johnny, Chris, Luke, Jack B, Josh G, Adam, Matthew H - began to show the adults what to do - I hope I have not missed any of you.  That was nice and friendly!

Then the adults (or should I say - older youths) started, with Nick C setting standard, which lasted until Jeremy came along and raised the standard even higher - throughout the next hour -perhaps more - first one Dad went, then another.  Each aiming to beat the last.

The funniest - (sorry Ian), was between Ian L and Bayden.  I must say we were a bit worried about Ian as he has not been on a bike for 12 months minimum, thankfully there was an ambulance at the side of this event!  When Ian beat Bayden it was game on!  With the two of them warming up - stretches and press ups - not that it helped any, as neither were likely to get any better and it was more likely who could pass out first - such was the effort.

On the last shot, Ian raised his arms in winning style, as if to beat Baydens last attempt - Baydens faced dropped, thinking he'd have to go again, do you really think Ian could do that - no, Bayden won.

Sadly all Dads were put in their place as along came Pete Boyd, who really showed them how to do it, and even blasted away Jeremys attempt.

It was great to see everyone have such a good time - real club/team spirit.  Lets have more of it!!

So the word of warning is - watch out  - as Ian is warming up and may be doing some secret training!!!!

Salford Nocturne
Written by Howard Pedder
Saturday, 30 August 2008

Wow! just returned back from the event and man what a evening, rapid racing,  crashes and beer and not a hoody or gangsta in sight, Melissa and Mathew won  their Roller racing, Sam, Joe and Alex all finished high up in the Support event, this was real Kermesse racing, dodgy corners, Tarmac ramps laid an hour prior to racing and loads of hazards it was just like being in Holland and a fantastic atmosphere, Ive not seen anything like this since the Kellogs city centre series many years ago, this is what we need in the UK and more of it please.

Saturday, 23 August 2008

Jason Kenny, who returned from the Olympics with a gold and a silver, was spotted washing washing his car outside his Grandmas in sunny Farnworth, Bolton on Friday.

His Grandparents lives next door to Melissa's grandparents and Jason proudly paraded his medals to the older generation before returning to finish his car (bought on ebay I believe).

Steven Burke gets a gong

A past Sportcity rider gets a Olympic bronze, this is a fantastic achievement for the Colne rider who came up from the EV ranks, Steven inspired me a couple of years ago with a letter of resignation becuase he wanted to do more road racing and at that time we where in the main a track team, wow how things have changed we dominate the road as much as the track now,

congratulations from all at SCV and EV

Jason Kenny gets Olympic Gold
Written by Howard Pedder
Friday, 15 August 2008

Jason took a gold in the team sprint earlier today along with the more experienced Chris Hoy and Jamie Staff, the young rider shot onto the GB squad after coming through the SCV setup and into the ODP and Olympic Academy, man it wasnt that long ago he was still riding the Act, Easter track meeting at the Velodrome,
Iam sure you will all agree that Jasons success will inspire new and existing riders to chase their dreams.

Congratualations from all at Sportcity Velo
