Monday, 27 April 2009

Earlier today Maxgear opened up for business with their new site luanching their new product range which isa available to all, so check it out use the link at the top of this page, I was with Wayne yesterday and his team and it all looked good stuff.

Good luck and thanks to Maxgear for their continued support.

Wayne also informed me that they will be looking after Champion Systems UK operations so this will no doubt make kit orders far easier in the future.

Saturday

Manchester and District Ladies 10 mile Invitation Time Trial (email from Jan)

Hannah Layland, Jess Anderson & Rebecca Bishop rode the Manchester and District Ladies 10 mile Invitation Time Trial on the J2/1 course at Monks Heath, Cheshire.  The invitation bit is that you invite a male along to ride too.
The prizes were for  fastest lady, fastest school girl, fasted team of 2 ladies, fastest handicap time, fastest combination (male & female) and fastest male team.
All the girls rode really well and did excellent times all PB's.  Hannah & Jess won the Ladies Team prize, Hannah was fastest school girl (4th fastest overall) and also she won the handicap prize too, with Rebecca coming second in the handicap. The girls had a good afternoon and all enjoyed the event.
One of the invited males was Tom Walker (of Eastlands Velo) - he did a great time a PB too.
Sunday
CDNW Road race near Kendal
Martin Woffindin, James Layland and Josh Gibson represented SCV in Westmorland Tankard Road Race. Martins done a few before, I think Joshs 2nd adult race and James first. Hats off to the three of them for being there and doing it, its very much a learning experience and as they get used to this type of racing then I'm sure the fun will begin. From my limited knowledge of road racing this looked very very hard with hills that ripped legs off and a pace which was relentless. I was unable to stay until the end but upto when I left the boys were doing good.
Also today Melissa Bury came 2nd in the British Duathlon National Championships (Duathlon = run bike run),
Finally kit update is thats its in manufacture, we have received an invoice for payment and I expect it to land next week. Thanks for your patience.

The formidable Yates Duo Simon and Adam (ones red the others blue)have now moved on to the Maxgear team inview of the teams growth and development in road racing, where they will gain the support and backing of a fast developing team.

The Yates family have been involved with both EV and SCV for many years, both the boys have bought in some great results over recent years and may they continue to do so.

good luck and all the best for the future.

In last Thursdays event Robert Crampton had a well deserved win in the 3/4th cats race, the points he as recently gained are taking him well on his way to a 2nd cat Jnr.

nice one Rob

National and Regional rankings

SCV is currently leading the NW regional rankings followed by team Wallace, we are also in the top 20 National hit parade coming in at no 19 so we are up there with all the bighitters, not bad for a club with zero budget!

Well done to all who have gained points to boost us up there with the top flight

There were only two juniors in the full field of 3/4 cats both of which were ScV riders Robert Crampton and South African import Justin Kirk, Robert took a very credable 8th place and newcomer Justin in his first Jnr race came in at the rear of the field.

well done guys

It was good to see a couple of our Jnrs having a go on the hilly course between Lancaster and Kirby lonsdale, Julian Pearson and Josh Gibson had a good crack at it both riders are more at home on the track but are moving out testing road events and boy did they pick a gruelling course with a field of experienced E 1234 cats with several prominent Northern E 1&2 riders involved and the Herballife team with a strong squad this wasnt a chipper racer, Josh went out the back early doors but carried on to finish, Julian did a good ride and you could see he had been getting in some miles in preparation not a course really for Julian but he carried on and got a good finish and both gained valuable experience when quite a few riders climbed off.

Keeping getting the road miles in guys and enter somemore events, well done.

Sam got in the early break and stayed out front all the race gaining approx 3mins on the bunch remnents taking 3rd in the sprint.

We had a great turn out at the event, it was a great day and quite warm in the sun, unfortunatley I spent the day under trees marshalling and it was quite chilly, we had some great performances from all riders, my notable mentions would be a impressive ride from Jake Ragan and his break companion Chris Lawless ( sign him up ), Hannah Leyland rode to a great 5th in the best race for me the ladies U16 event, Clair Gore great ride there, Mathew Holmes boy he rode well and looked impressive and getting the benefits of a winter on the road and mentoring from his dad Roy who was a class rider as a younger guy and dosent do to bad now! I could go on and on, Luke Boulton did a ride crashing twice and still getting into the final,

Iam pleased that young Braybrooke made a quick recovery after his screams got everyone on their feet and me making a route for the Ambulance which was luckily not needed.

I hope evryone enjoyed the days racing and liked the course eventhough they had concerns of its safety there were a few skidded off but only suffered light abrasions and all got back on to continue, probably safer than Preston arena ( Mellisa hope you recover soon).

Sorry not to mention everyone but well done all riders.

as a footnote we thought we would have trouble with the local dog walkers & scallywags getting on the circuit but we found as marshalls the main inconsiderates and dangers actually was caused by riders and parents who really should know better, trying or getting across the circuit when the races were approaching, thankfully not SCV or EV guys.
