CDNW

Hi All
We are just under two weeks to go untill the first CDNW youth league.
I have sent Ivor the latest up to date entries and they will be uploaded at www.cdnw.org when he gets a bit of time.
If you still havent entered I will accept entries up till next Wednesday so make sure you get it in the post and save yourself a couple of pounds, it also makes it a bit easier for us on the day.
Signing on will close at 9.45am on the day with the first race off at 10. The format for the races will be the same as the end of the youth league last year with a short "mini" race followed by the actual crit. So every category will continue to get two races in the day.
If you wish to unsubscribe to the email list then please drop me an email and I will take you off the list.
Kind Regards
Matt

Written by Ian Bury
Friday, 27 February 2009

Kit has been confirmed as shipping to us on the 23rd March and supplier will try to ship 1 week earlier if it is ready.

Big apologies for the delay a change in sales person, some discussions on price and some small changes to the design have mean it has taken far too long to get this order.....

When its here I will try to get it to you as soon as possible.

Ian

Please don't shout at Jan for the delay, I take full and complete responsibility for it!

Annual General Meeting
Written by Ian Bury
Thursday, 26 February 2009

Last night Sportcity Velo held its AGM (minutes to follow) and it was great  to see so many parents/coaches and helpers attending. Mark Barry has agreed to be the new chairman and to support Mark we are very keen to enrol helpers to ensure that the club continues to develop on and off the track.

There will be an Ordinary General Meeting 22nd April at the velodrome in which we will be looking for people to help by putting something back into the club (Remember all current coaches, volunteers are not financially rewarded for their efforts, they do it for the love of the game and often lose out financially).

Could you help? Could you help move stuff in out the clubroom, maybe learn to coach (some free courses on offer), write a website article maybe? Something else?

As you know Mark is extremely passionate about cycling and with a few of us working together we think could be even more successful at what we do.

Any agenda items for the OGM please pass to Mark or one of the coaches.

Thanks in anticipation of your support

Ian

Sportcity Show Strength In Depth At Revolution
Written by Ian Bury
Tuesday, 24 February 2009

At the recent Revolution Series Sportcity riders had some fantastic success!

The Revolution this year was a sellout post the China Olympics with tickets going for £80+ on ebay...

4 events had our riders representing regions rather than clubs and such is the quality of our riders we had riders drafted into a number of teams.

In the Elites we had Christian Lyte riding in Sportcity colours. In the future stars we had Adam and Simon Yates, Jess Anderson, Hannah Layland, Hannah Walker, Melissa Bury and Sophie Gore who raced the full series.

Martin Woffindin and Jack Penrice also earned opportunities to ride (Jack managed a great 2nd in the scratch race on Saturday).

The results were simply staggering! For the series Simon got 1st place, Adam 2nd.

Simon and Adam were always in the mix in every race and both managed to avoid some scary crashes...

The girls also did very well and given the age of the field we can be confident of future success in the Revolution as some of our riders are young enough to have another 2 goes at the Future Stars before they get too old.

5 riders in the winning team overall (North West) were from Sportcity and got the opportunity to meet Daley Thompson (Youtube him for the younger members).

Hannah Walker just missed out on third place overall for the girls with Hannah Layland regularly clipping off the front of the group to get the crowd going!

It must be fantastic to ride in front of all those people and a big well done to you all for representing the club in such a professional way!

Ian
