3 hr club ride leaving the velodrome at 10.10 Sat am (weather prevailing very heavy rain no ride, damp we will ride).
Contact Sam or Howard Pedder for details or just turn up.
Shane from Surosa is an experienced cyclist will lead but each rider is expected to be responsible for themselves during the ride.
The ride is aimed at aged 15+riders and it is expected to cover 50miles without a stop.
If we can get a reasonable bunch together then this should build a great training base for next season

SCV Chairman
Written by Howard Pedder
Saturday, 18 October 2008

I have decided to stand down as chairman this week, to enable me to take on the new role of Jnr Team Manager which was what I was doing prior to taking on the chairmans role, we have a massive problem in keeping Jnr riders and this last year was no exeption, it is essential we build a sustainable road team and riders are given the required support needed otherwise we will always have this problem. I will be advising the Jnrs and co-ordinating them and hopefully trying to better the sponsorship for them.

SCV as changed dramatically over my time some good some indifferent, Iam not overboard on the all inclusive SCV as I feel that its lost its something to aspire to but hopefully I can bring this back with the Jnr team, I set out to help the riders but I seem to have got detatched with all the politics etc from my own beliefs and want to get back to basics again, sometimes we lose touch of why we do what we do, the riders are the important issue not the politics, you need to be one to one with the riders which was easy to do with the old setup but now we have so many members its impossible.

this coming year will hopefully see a long awaited turn and we will have a good team base to work with and develop, plus I have a couple of other things in the pipeline.

thanks for your support

The format is a three event competition between Eastlands/Sportcity Vs The Newcastle Track Association Vs A West Midlands Combination. The first event is a Track Omnium on the 18th October. Riders will participate in a Time Trial, Scratch Race, Devil and if we have time a combined Italian. Each riders will score points for themselves and for their Club.  There will be races for each age category and Boys and Girls.  In previous years we have had 80 + riders participating

The second event will be a roller competition at Newcastle Under Lyme on the afternoon of the 22cnd NovemberIf you haven't done a roller event before, don't worry, you will be held on the rollers and its great fun - a big clock behind you shows your progress over various distances against riders from the other clubs
The third event will be a Cyclo- Cross at a date later in the year to be confirmed
We would like you to do all three events, and will do our best to get you a Cyclo Cross bike or you can use a Mountain Bike
Any questions please ask Phil Braybrooke or Ian Bury
Parents - We will need your help on the day for signing in, refreshments and general running about !
Eastlands/SportCity Cyclo Cross - 11 October @ Clayton Vale - Help Required
The club is running this event as part of the NW Cyclo Cross League and we need your help. This is a great opportunity to raise funds for the club . We are aiming to raise at least £300.  This is also a good opportunity to try out Cyclo Cross. The event is taking place in Clayton Vale, adjacent to the Velodrome.starting at 12.30pm
We already have sponsorship from Evans Cycles and our the SportCity sponsors. The Friends of Clayton Vale are laying on refreshments and we have a special guest  running a live commentary of the race
Parents - we need your help in two ways
1) Helping to set out the course from 9am on the 11th October - we will meet at the Velodrome at 8am and then go the Clayton Vale Visitor Centre
2) Marshalling at the event - from 12pm we will need 10 Marshals to ensure the safety of the event - the duties involve making sure others users of the Vale are safe from the riders !!
If you need any further information please ask Phil or Len
Thanks
Phil
